Great Pyrenees Rescue of Wisconsin, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, was founded in June of 2007 by people who had been involved with Pyrs for many years. GPRW is composed of Great Pyrenees enthusiasts who work as volunteers donating time, energy, funds, products, knowledge, and services to help Pyrs in need.
GPRW takes in Great Pyrenees dogs who are encountering hard times. Some have been abandoned or neglected. Sometimes an owner has died. Still others are surrendered by loving owners who can no longer care for their dog. We provide care, training and love until “forever homes” are found. GPRW does not refuse or euthanize dogs with medical needs, provided appropriate medical care can enhance their quality of life. Priority is given to dogs from Wisconsin, but assistance is given to dogs from other areas whenever possible.
Any dog we place is evaluated for temperament and is up-to-date with veterinary checks and vaccinations. All dogs are spayed or neutered. We are especially proud of our placement history of dogs with special needs.
GPRW works to educate people about the Great Pyrenees breed, proper pet selection, and the importance of pet population control and participates in public events to increase the awareness of our mission.
GPRW offers assistance to owners experiencing Pyr problems. Often, with dedication, determination, and understanding, solutions to these challenges can be found. If you need help with your Pyr, always feel free to contact us.
